What Sets Us Apart

Rich
Programming
Some think of the array of
special opportunities we offer
as “program enrichments” -- the
basics, plus special
opportunities. We like to think
in terms of “rich programming” --
that is, we are committed to
providing a diverse and
stimulating array of educational
experiences that nurture all
aspects of children's
development and learning. Along
with developing motor, social,
and cognitive skills, our
children also develop their
imagination and creativity and
expand their view of the world.
Among the activities we
regularly provide are: outdoor
play on our park-like,
well-equipped playground
(weather permitting), field
trips, Spanish language, art,
music, and science. Visiting
artists, performers, and
scientists supplement our
curriculum with specialized
activities that give them
experiences unusual at this age.
For example, we have had a
visiting poet who made poems
with children and then printed
them in a book, a potter who
helped children turn mud into
imaginative critters, and a
scientist who helped them
discover new worlds through our
microscopes (yes, we have
several!). We also have a
regular calendar of performances
which give children the
experience of seeing real people
make music in a wide variety of
genres.
